We know how important your sensitive medical data is, and have taken steps to protect your privacy. This Online Privacy Policy is provided to make you aware of how Canada Wide Pharmacy collects, uses, and manages information of visitors to its Internet sites.

At canadawidepharmacy.com, we take the privacy of our customers seriously. We are committed to maintaining the security of the personal information provided by users that visit our website. This policy is based on the Canadian Standards Association’s model code (CAN/CSA Q-830-96 R-2002), the set of principles that underlies the Canadian legislation at the federal and provincial levels. We also aim to meet relevant requirements from the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), regulations governing pharmacy and health data practices, and other applicable law and policy.

Principle 1 — Accountability

The privacy officer for canadawidepharmacy.com is the Chief Technical Officer. To contact the privacy officer, inquire about the policy, to access your personal information, or to lodge a complaint, please contact: privacy@canadawidepharmacy.com.

Our organization employs a number of data processors around the world, in order to provide you, the customer, with the best and most economical service possible. We hold each of our data processors to the same standards as ourselves, in the matter of the protection of your personal data.

Principle 2 — Identifying Purposes

This organization collects personal information in order to fill prescriptions, verify those prescriptions with doctors, and ship medications to customers. We take steps to ensure that the Pharmacies and Fulfillment Centres we work with to fill your prescriptions comply with all regulatory obligations in the jurisdictions where they are licensed.

This may mean verifying data of other individuals involved in the transaction of filling the prescription, such as medical professionals, guardians or caregivers.

An explanation of the purposes behind the collection of separate data elements appears on each form submitted by the customer. We do not use customer data for marketing, nor do we share it with other organizations for unrelated purposes. Compliance with regulatory obligations may involve such uses as:

Further discussion of disclosure of patient data appears in principle 5.

Principle 3 - Consent

On each order form you fill, we seek your consent to the release of the personal information that you provide. We have made best efforts to explain the purposes for which we ask for your personal information, but if you have any questions about why certain data elements are requested or what happens to that information, please do not hesitate to ask, at privacy@canadawidepharmacy.com.

If you are filling out a form on behalf of another individual whom you represent, such as a child or a dependent adult for whom you have power of attorney, we will gather additional information in order to verify that claim.

You have the right to withdraw consent for the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information, subject to our regulatory requirements to keep a record of certain transactions.

Principle 4 — Limiting Collection

Our organization collects only the personal information that is essential to serve you, the customer, and to ensure compliance with regulatory obligations. We collect the information directly from the customer, and limit its use to the health care professionals involved with your care and our suppliers and processors.

Principle 5 —Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention

We only keep your personal data for as long as we need it to serve you. The pharmacies and fulfillment centres we work with have important regulatory requirements to preserve your personal data (for example the requirement to preserve your personal data in British Columbia is five years after your last transaction). We make sure that our suppliers delete your data when the processing is complete/or they have fulfilled their own regulatory obligations. We use state of the art encryption to ensure that your personal information is protected when in our control.

Principle 6 — Accuracy

It is very important that the information we rely on to provide your pharmaceutical needs is accurate and up to date. If you are on other medications or your health changes you need to tell us. We ask for information each time we fulfill your order, in order to ensure that we are operating with the best possible information about your health.

Principle 7 — Safeguards

We take your privacy and this policy seriously. All of our staff are trained to ensure that they know what to do to keep your data safe.

We meet and exceed all regulatory requirements in protecting your personal data. Your financial transactions are protected through 256-bit SSL certificates, which offer the highest level of encryption. Your data is stored in a PCI compliance data center.

When your personal data is sent to our suppliers to fulfill your order, we ensure that it travels in an encrypted state, and we ensure that all resting data is also encrypted.

In the unfortunate event of a data breach, we will contact you and any relevant data protection authorities as required by local law.
